How the movie Last Seen Alive (2022) ends:
Last Seen Alive 2022 is a frustrating race against time to find Will Spann’s missing wife through the criminal underbelly of a small town in the middle of nowhere. It was directed by Brian Goodman. This movie starts with a shocking idea: a main suspect is kidnapped and then confesses to a horrible crime, possibly murder, while in custody. The story of the movie goes in a straight line, and the main goal is to find Will Spann’s wife, Lisa.
The main characters’ journeys are similar to each other. Both of them are looking for answers, and when they use different ways to find them, their paths cross at the same place as the missing person and events show a very different truth. From the start, we’re led to believe something that isn’t true. When Detective Paterson meets Will Spann, who reports his wife missing as a joke to show that he doesn’t have any criminal tendencies, the scales start to tip. Let’s look at how the mysterious disappearance of Lisa brings together two men who want to find her and confirm Will’s wolf instinct.

PLOT SUMMARY AND SYNOPSIS OF THE 2022 MOVIE LAST SEEN ALIVE:
WILL AND LISA SPANN, A COUPLE HAVING TROUBLE IN THEIR RELATIONSHIP

Will Spann, played by Gerard Butler, is a successful and well-respected real estate developer with a large estate and a beautiful wife, Lisa, played by Jaimie Alexander, by his side to take over the world. Even though everyone else sees them as a happy couple, Lisa is going through an inner turmoil that is getting out of hand. With questions coming up and worries rising, she tells her husband in a calm way that the only way to fix things is to get some space from the marriage. Will is strongly against it, but he gives in this one time because his wife has already cheated on him once.
Will Spann and his wife, Lisa, are in the car at 9:30 a.m. They are on their way to her parents’ house, and both of them have agreed that she will only stay there for a few days before she decides whether or not to stay married to him. Will isn’t sure if this should end or not because their marriage is in trouble. His car is almost out of gas just before they get to her parents’ house, and he is sure that there is no way around this. Before getting back on the road, they have to stop at a gas station.
Even though he wants to forgive her, he tells her that she can get out of this situation if she just takes his hand. Lisa has to face her inner fight response when she sees Clint’s message on her phone while she’s in the bathroom at a gas station. This is even though she has moved on from Clint, her most recent lover. Lisa has demons to fight, and she never knows if she is safe. Lisa sees someone she knows at the gas station when she comes out of the grocery store. The same truck stops at the same gas station. Suddenly, Lisa goes missing. Her worst fears are about to come true when she meets someone at a gas station who changes her life forever, and the person she is trying to get away from is the one who saves her.
WHAT DOES DETECTIVE PATERSON DO TO HELP WILL SPANN?

Will knows it’s his job to find Lisa when she goes missing from the gas station. After talking to Oscar, the store owner at the gas station, who says he saw her at the counter, Will does what he’s supposed to do and calls 911 to report a missing person. Will’s anxiety is getting worse because he knows that the number of missing people is shockingly high. The first 24 hours are very important in the search for Lisa. Will wants to beat the odds and do whatever it takes to get to her, no matter what. Detective Roy Paterson, played by Russel Hornsby, answers Will’s call at the 911 center and says he will check on the case in person.
An hour and a half later, at 11 am, Paterson shows up at the scene, and Will recognizes him. Will is about to go over the edge because of what Paterson is asking. Paterson walks into the store to talk to Oscar, who owns the store and is a well-known local friend. He questions him regarding Lisa. Oscar tells the Detective that he can’t look at the CCTV footage because it’s broken. After questioning Oscar, Paterson decides to put out an APB (an alert from one police station to all others with instructions to arrest a suspect or person) about Lisa and asks Will to give his statement. Will says no, so he decides to stay behind. His mind works faster than the Detective’s, and he moves faster when he is by himself.
A few minutes later, Will comes to the station with a computer chip that has CCTV camera footage of the front of the gas station store saved on it. Paterson is surprised by Will’s decision to keep going even though he was told to stop. When they turn on the system, they see that when Lisa leaves the store, she starts talking to someone, then follows him to a car and disappears when a truck blocks the CCTV camera’s view. The case’s first clue. Will and Paterson are glad that things are over.
Before going on with his investigation, Paterson takes the chance to talk to Will. Paterson sits Will down after seeing Lisa leave with a person he doesn’t know and asks him questions that are important to Lisa’s survival over the next few hours. When Paterson asks if Lisa Spann has a life insurance policy that would give Will millions of dollars if she died, Paterson goes in a different direction with his investigation because he thinks Will might be the main suspect.

Paterson’s doubts about Will are getting stronger, so he goes back to the store and finds that Oscar has already gone home for the day. He goes back to the station to look into Lisa’s computer after telling the person behind the counter to be careful. When Paterson gets a call that Will ran away into the woods, he doesn’t know what to do. Nothing makes sense. But he knows that this man is not going to give up. After the police found out who Lisa talked to last, they found a man tied up with duct tape in the trunk of Will’s car. Detective Paterson finds out who he is and talks to him. His name is Pete’ Knuckles’ Daniels. We go back to the beginning of the movie, where Paterson puts his weight on Knuckles to make him confess because time is running out. Knuckles says that he almost choked on the thought that Lisa might be dead.
LAST SEEN ALIVE (2022) MOVIE ENDING EXPLAINED
CAN WILL SPANN FIND HIS WIFE LISA BEFORE DETECTIVE PATERSON?

When Will Spann finds out that the CCTV camera outside the gas station is working, he makes the story more complicated. Oscar tells a blatant lie at the store’s front desk when he says he saw Will’s wife and the camera recording. Will grabs the footage and takes it to Paterson after a fight breaks out and he gives Oscar a hard time. When he goes back to Lisa’s parents, they tell him who the person in the CCTV footage is. This gives him his first clue and gives him the lead in the investigation. Knuckles is his name. He went to school with Lisa and is also helping them build their house. Will gets in his car and drives all the way up to where Lisa’s mother was the last time she saw Knuckles’ car. On his way home, he calls Detective Paterson to say sorry for how he acted when he was being questioned. Paterson knows that something is going on and that Will might know something about it.
Will goes up to Knuckles, who doesn’t know that Will is in his trailer. After the fight, Will ties up Knuckles so that he can take him away and put him in the trunk of the car. When the policeman pulls Will over for speeding, Knuckles is found, and Will gets away by running into the woods. Based on what Knuckles told him, Will has to look for Frank, who might be holding Lisa against her will. Will’s wolf instinct takes over when he goes to Frank’s property to look for Lisa. As he gets closer to a group of trailers, a car pulls up and he sees Oscar get out. This is the last piece of evidence that shows he knew Lisa and had something to do with her disappearance. Now it’s more important than ever to find Lisa because she’s in more danger.
He walks slowly through different illegal meth labs with a shotgun in his hand until he finds Frank. Frank starts shooting at Will, and Will ends up killing Frank and his assistant. While they are trying hard to find Lisa and shooting at each other, a small part of the lab catches fire. Will doesn’t know he killed two people, but when he finds out, he goes outside to look at the rest of the property. In a funny twist, the story goes back to Oscar, who runs into him outside the lab. Will and Oscar face each other with their guns drawn. Oscar says that he knows Lisa and shows Will her phone, which drives Will even more crazy. After Oscar asks for money to tell Will where Lisa really is, the lab blows up, killing Oscar and making it impossible for Will to find out where Lisa is.
We might think this is the end, but it’s not. Will and Lisa may still have a chance, which makes the plot twist even more. Paterson is trying to get Knuckles to talk at the same time. Knuckles tells Paterson that he thought it would be a good idea to kidnap Lisa to get money from her husband. But when he did it and took her to Frank, Frank would never leave them both alive because they knew what happened on that property. Frank tells Knuckles to dig a grave for Lisa. But Knuckles runs away because he is afraid for his life, leaving Lisa to her own devices.
Will and Paterson are both worried because they haven’t found Lisa yet. When Paterson gets to Frank’s property, he finds the hole, which has a big metal sheet over it. He lifts the sheet and lets out a sigh of relief because Lisa’s dead body is not in the hole. Chances that she is still alive have gotten better. Will hears a sudden kicking sound coming from a booth. He walks over to it and calls Lisa’s name. He keeps kicking, and he opens the shed that looks like a booth. Lisa is tied up and has cuts and bruises on her. Will unties her, lifts her out of the booth, and takes her home to her parents.
FINAL WORDS
At the end, we see that two men have the same determination, and they see it in each other’s eyes. Will’s character uses methods that are unusual and almost illegal, even though he did kill two people by shooting them. Later, Paterson said that the post-mortem showed that two people had died before the lab caught fire and blew up. Will and Lisa’s story has a happy ending, and the rain reminds them that sadness can be washed away to make way for a new beginning.
The movie is traumatic to watch because Gerard Butler’s existential crisis happens over and over again, making it hard to keep up. Russel Hornsby stabilizes the story and brings the movie to a clear end. The ending seems abrupt and out of place, giving the impression of a happy ending even though Butler’s character isn’t sure of that. The story has two strong parallels, but the movie isn’t as good as it could be. Sometimes a movie loses a viewer, but the story keeps them watching, which is exactly what this movie does.
